What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is an injectable hyaluronic acid filler that can be used to reduce the appearance of bags under the eyes, subtly enhance lips, and correct facial folds and wrinkles. Restylane® is the preferred filler used to treat hollows or “bags” under the eyes, and can also be used for lip enhancement.
Like Juvéderm®, Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs in the body. As the body goes through the aging process it produces less hyaluronic acid, causing the skin to lose its firmness and volume. Using an injectable hyaluronic acid filler, like Restylane® or Juvéderm®, essentially replaces the hyaluronic acid that has been lost in the aging process and helps to restore a youthful appearance.

What can I expect during treatment?
Restylane® is administered in small amounts into the skin with an ultra-fine needle. Injection sessions typically take about 15 to 30 minutes and can easily be fit into a lunch hour. Restylane® injections will not impact facial expressions. Patients will enjoy natural looking results without looking like they have had work done.
When will I see results?
Results can be seen immediately following a treatment session. Typically results last for four to six months, results vary based on skin type and age. We recommend patients using Restylane® for lip enhancement schedule follow-up sessions every six months to maintain results.
What are the possible side effects?
Potential side effects include some minor swelling, tenderness, redness, itching, or bruising at the injection site. These side effects should resolve on their own and subside within one to two days following treatment.
What is the recovery time?
There is minimal downtime associated with Restylane® injections. We recommend that patients avoid strenuous activities, sun exposure, and excessive heat or extreme cold for at least 24 hours following treatment.
